I think it is pretty simple in that there are two points (holes) out of which the gas flows. One is above the bottom (ON) and one is on the bottom (RES). Once the gas reaches the same level as the upper hole, it no longer flows and you stop. Flipping to RES allows the gas to flow out the bottom hole.
There is only one tank. Keep the switch on ON and fill up the tank every 100 to 125 miles.
